I am Love: A Book of Compassion= This book was chosen from the Children’s Choices Reading List for the Books Selected by Children shelf。 In summary, the book is about a little girl who notices others around her being upset and finds a way to reach out to make them happy again by just being there for them。 She also figures out to love others in that way, you first must find out how to love yourself first and take care of yourself as well to shine a positive light onto others。 Teachers could use t I am Love: A Book of Compassion= This book was chosen from the Children’s Choices Reading List for the Books Selected by Children shelf。 In summary, the book is about a little girl who notices others around her being upset and finds a way to reach out to make them happy again by just being there for them。 She also figures out to love others in that way, you first must find out how to love yourself first and take care of yourself as well to shine a positive light onto others。 Teachers could use this book to teach children how to be compassionate to not only themselves but others as well and teach them what love really is in a friendship way。 An activity a teacher could do to use this book is a read aloud with mindful coloring pages that have quotes from the book, for instance “You are Love”。 Overall, I rate this book a 5/5 because it is really well done in all aspects。 。。。more

。。。more

Such a lovely story to read aloud and discuss with little ones。 The illustrations work so well and don’t overwhelm the concise narrative。 Definitely a book to add to your bookshelf at home or at school。

So basic, but many adults could benefit from reading this ;)

This book embraces diversity, raw human emotion and healthy friendships。 Something that sets this book apart for me is that it includes relevant yoga poses and mindfulness tips to help students respond to the reading。 The art work is engaging and the text is thought provoking and encourages response。 This is a wonderful tool to help littles with social and emotional learning and there are a lot of deeper subjects that this could open up conversation around。

In addition to the wonderful pictures and stories, the author's pages at the end are truly excellent, reminding us of the tools we can give kids to control their emotions and to reflect。 In addition to the wonderful pictures and stories, the author's pages at the end are truly excellent, reminding us of the tools we can give kids to control their emotions and to reflect。 。。。more

A picture book for children encouraging love for others。

Its no surprise that I love the illustrations, since Peter Reynolds is my favorite illustrator。 This book is all about love and how to use it to help someone dealing with a "storm", which seems more like depression。 I love the overarching theme and do think that kids need to know how to be kind and show love to everyone, however, my psychology brain screams "love doesn't cure depression" and I think if they would've gone about the beginning of the book in a different way, this wouldn't have been Its no surprise that I love the illustrations, since Peter Reynolds is my favorite illustrator。 This book is all about love and how to use it to help someone dealing with a "storm", which seems more like depression。 I love the overarching theme and do think that kids need to know how to be kind and show love to everyone, however, my psychology brain screams "love doesn't cure depression" and I think if they would've gone about the beginning of the book in a different way, this wouldn't have been the message I received。 Peter Reynolds carries this book on his back with his illustrations that are very typical to his style。 Would've liked maybe a little more depth to the book? Would be good for ages 5-7! 。。。more

This is such a beautiful book and would make an amazing read aloud for Kindness Week (or anytime, really)。 Unfortunately, I'm a crier and I don't think I could make it through a read aloud with a group! Loved it, though, and highly recommend it。 This is such a beautiful book and would make an amazing read aloud for Kindness Week (or anytime, really)。 Unfortunately, I'm a crier and I don't think I could make it through a read aloud with a group! Magnifique! À reprendre pour les belles valeurs lorsque Henry sera plus vieux。 Comme tous les titres de cet auteur, un petit bijou à lire et à relire。

I thought this book was very well written。 I liked the message about being a beacon of light in others lives and as well as your own life。

Even good advice that makes me proud to read a book to a kid does not always move me personally。 This one moved me。 Very much。 Great 100% in French book for kids。 Amazing aspirational statements about what compassion can mean but somehow not sickeningly over the top。 The art hit just the right tone。 Also, lightly based around yoga and meditation but that is only explained in the back pages。 Great for a curious French reader in your life--toi-même!

I gave this more stars than my daughter probably would have because I absolutely loved this book。 My daughter seemed to enjoy it pretty well, but I would definitely buy this。 The author also, has other books that I’d like to check out as well。 This book taught feelings, and how sometimes you can feel sad, but usually things will get better and the sun will shine again。 There were also, yoga poses, and a meditation at the end that i ppm in continuing to try to do with my daughter。 This would be a I gave this more stars than my daughter probably would have because I absolutely loved this book。 My daughter seemed to enjoy it pretty well, but I would definitely buy this。 The author also, has other books that I’d like to check out as well。 This book taught feelings, and how sometimes you can feel sad, but usually things will get better and the sun will shine again。 There were also, yoga poses, and a meditation at the end that i ppm in continuing to try to do with my daughter。 This would be a cute book for elementary school kids。 。。。more

Genre: Contemporary RealisticGrade Level: PreK-2I love the message behind this short book。 It takes compassion and puts it into terms that a young student can understand while reading on their own。 It would be a great conversation starter for students。 We could talk about practical ways to love others。 Honestly, we could base a writing prompt off of this。 Or, it could just be for enjoyment。

A good little break down for the term love into plain language and ideas on what one can do。

I read this to some of my classes, since it's close to Valentine's Day。 It's a nice book about general love, kindness, and compassion, rather than mushy, romantic love。 I think that's good for kids to see。Adults should probably read it, too。 I read this to some of my classes, since it's close to Valentine's Day。 It's a nice book about general love, kindness, and compassion, rather than mushy, romantic love。 I think that's good for kids to see。Adults should probably read it, too。 。。。more

This is one of my favorite books to share with my students。 Together we identify the various forms of love and challenge each other to show a new form of love each day。 Usually the first day I read the book, I have students draw a picture of how they are love。 Then we come up with ideas on how we can try new ways of being love。

Maybe it's too preachy and sweet, but I don't care。 It gets the point across。 Love people! Love is action! Love is bright, beautiful, and worth it! Makes me want to go out and make a positive difference in the world without apology。 Maybe it's too preachy and sweet, but I don't care。 It gets the point across。 Love people! Love is action! This book can be very powerful for children。 Kindness is such an important aspect for them to learn and it is hard to teach them how to be kind by just telling them to do good things to people。 This book teaches them how to be a good person by showing love and kindness to others and being present and listening to those around them by using their heart。

Veronica Manthei

Lovely book that reminds children (and adults) all the best things about themselves。

This is my favorite of the series! I love the page that says “love is taking care of me” and the page that says “I can know that no one is perfect。 Love is understanding。” (After a friend ruins the flowers the narrator out care into growing)。 And the page with “I can celebrate those I’ve loved before。 Love is remembering” made me tear up! I love this book 😉

A celebration of ways to show love。A feel good book about showing love。 Reynolds illustration style is becoming quite iconic。 I personally believe that our source of love for others can run dry and we need help from God to show love to others (and sometimes ourselves) so I disagree on a philosophical technicality with this book but agree with the overall sentiment。
